Wednesday, June 25, 2014 // Toronto, ON – BAHAMAS aka Afie Jurvanen (pronounced ey-fee yer-van-an) today reveals a new song “Stronger Than That” and a national tour in support of BAHAMAS IS AFIE, the forthcoming album from BAHAMAS, due August 19, 2014 (via Universal Music Canada). All tickets to the newly announced concerts go on-sale to the public this Friday, June 27 at 10am local time. Members of the BAHAMAS Fan club + bahamasmusic.net e-mail subscribers have an opportunity to purchase tickets early, beginning today, Wednesday, June 25 at 10am local time.
The revealing, self-titled Bahamas is Afie features twelve new original songs that are self-produced by Jurvanen and recorded in his home city of Toronto. While Bahamas is Afie echoes his previous full-lengths, the multi-JUNO and Polaris Music Prize nominated Pink Strat (2009) and Barchords (2012), Bahamas is Afie explores a more developed arrangement of strings, brass, winds, orchestral percussion, and chamber choruses.
“The album was more or less finished when we decided to go back in and cut this track,” says Jurvanen of the song “Stronger Than That.” “It’s a song about believing in someone, someone who doesn’t really believe in themselves. It’s about encouragement, which is something I think we could often use more of. Plus, listen to that stratocaster! I had a lot of fun making this one.”
