A BUSY MONTH FOR BENEDETTI

 
On May 23, Nicola Benedetti was awarded the Queen’s Medal for Music by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II during a private visit to Buckingham Palace.  This honor is bestowed upon an “outstanding individual or group of musicians” who have had a major influence on the music world.  More on the award here.
 
Earlier in May, the Gothenburg Symphony released a live video of Nicola’s recent performance of Shostakovich Violin Concerto No. 1 conducted by Thomas Søndergård.  As the review by Gramophone states, the result is “completely captivating”.  Watch here!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, BEATRICE!
