The duo premiered their new single at this year’s Coachella Festival, receiving stellar festival coverage across the board including Variety, Nylon and Teen Vogue with Idolator stating: “This unexpected collaboration played to both of their strengths — from the natural vulnerability in Troye’s voice, to Martin’s ability to add unexpected heart to pop-EDM bangers.”
The docu-style video for “There For You” was shot in San Francisco, California by Taylor Cut Films (Usher, Ciara) and takes a look at the lives of both Martin and Troye leading up to their performance of the new single last week at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium.
Martin Garrix says of working with Troye on the track: “I’ve been so fortunate to work with such an incredible artist like Troye on this record. I’ve been a fan for ages and he had an idea for this record, sent it over and the rest is history. He’s a true artist and on top of that, a good friend. So excited to share with you guys the result of our hard work.” Troye Sivan adds: “Working with Martin has been such an amazing experience. He puts every bit of himself into everything he does and is completely hands on. We’ve been eager to work on something together for a bit now and I’m so proud of what we’ve created with “There For You.”
“There for You” is the follow up to Garrix’s hit “Scared To Be Lonely” with Dua Lipa which has surpassed over a half billion streams worldwide since its release at the end of January. The FADER describes “Scared To Be Lonely” as “…an emotional track with a heavy beat that you’ll…hear a lot this summer.”
Previous to “Scared To Be Lonely,” Garrix announced his signing to RCA/Sony Music International in the summer of last year with the release of “In The Name Of Love” with Bebe Rexha which is RIAA certified platinum, amassing over 1.2 billion streams worldwide.
Named the #1 DJ on DJ Mag’s Top 100 poll, Martin Garrix is on track for yet another mammoth year. The young trailblazer wrapped his 3-night run at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium last week in San Francisco and is headlining Tomorrowland in July in Belgium. Martin continues to call Ibiza his second summer home, adding another club residency at Hï and continues his residency at Ushuaïa.
