CHICAGO (5/1/17) – Lyric Opera of Chicago will hold auditions for dancers with strong technique and significant stage experience for its upcoming production of the opera The Pearl Fishers by Georges Bizet on Monday, June 5, 2017. This production will be staged by director Andrew Sinclair, with choreography by John Malashock, Artistic Director of Malashock Dance and The Malaschock Dance School.
The Pearl Fishers requires 6 men and 4 women. All dancers should have a strong technical base in modern and/or ballet in addition to substantial professional experience. The choreographic style is modern, earthy, and percussive; dancers should be athletic and stylistically versatile with excellent partnering skills.
Rehearsals will begin Monday, October 30, 2017, with performances running from Sunday, November 19 through Sunday, December 10, 2017.
The audition will be held at Lyric’s Civic Opera House, entrance at 40 N. Wacker Drive, Chicago IL 60606. Auditions are by invitation only, upon application. Dancers should wear simple clothing that shows the dance line. Please plan to audition with bare feet or wearing your choice of ballet slippers, jazz shoes, or dance sandals.

You will not be granted the ability to register for an audition until you have made a complete application. Walk-ins will not be seen.
Please be prepared to show a government-issued photo identification card to gain access to the auditions. All applicants must have valid eligibility to work in the United States. Lyric Opera will not apply for working permits for foreign dancers.
