Los Angeles – February 27, 2017 – HDNET MOVIES unveils a star-studded March lineup loaded with acclaimed premieres, chilling thrillers, ‘60s spy capers, and more—airing in primetime all month long.
HDNET MOVIES presents a month of themed double-features in its new weekly showcase “Back-To-Back,” airing every Friday at 9pE. The month kicks off on March 3 with a pair of Kevin Smith comedies, JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK and his 1994 directorial debut CLERKS. Robots rule on March 10, with Steve Guttenberg in the 1986 classic SHORT CIRCUIT; followed by SHORT CIRCUIT 2. Then, on March 17, action icon Jean-Claude Van Damme stars in REPLICANT and NOWHERE TO RUN. And Clint Eastwood shines in the 1968 Western HANG ‘EM HIGH; and the 1974 crime drama THUNDERBOLT AND LIGHTFOOT on March 24.
HDNET MOVIES unleashes a heart-pounding Thriller Thursday five-pack on March 9, kicking off with Ewan McGregor in EYE OF THE BEHOLDER, at 5:10pE. Next, Alexander Skarsgård and Ellen Page spread anarchy in THE EAST at 7pE. Then, Michael Douglas falls for mysterious author Sharon Stone in BASIC INSTINCT at 9pE; and Rob Lowe terrorizes James Spader in BAD INFLUENCE at 11:15pE. And Christopher Eccleston and Ewan McGregor cover up the death of their flatmate in Danny Boyle’s directorial debut SHALLOW GRAVE, at 1aE.
Tune in for a night of swingin’ ‘60s spy capers with the Secret Agent Man three-pack, on Wednesday, March 15. The adventure begins at 7:05pE, with James Coburn in the 1966 James Bond parody OUR MAN FLINT. Then, Coburn is back in action at 9pE, taking on dangerous women bent on world domination in IN LIKE FLINT. And Dean Martin stars as superspy Matt Helm, tasked with dismantling a dastardly doctor’s (Karl Malden) laser beam in MURDERERS’ ROW, with Ann-Margret, at 11pE.
HDNET MOVIES celebrates 25 years of BASIC INSTINCT with a special broadcast of the seminal shocker on Monday, March 20—the date of its original release—at 9pE. Directed by Paul Verhoeven, the film stars Michael Douglas as Nick Curran, a detective investigating a brutal murder connected to seductive novelist Catherine Tramell (Sharon Stone). As the bodies pile up, Curran finds himself moving closer to uncovering the truth—and falling deeper into Tramell’s tangled web of lust and lies.
