CHICAGO – Tickets are on sale now for Concert for America: Stand Up, Sing Out!, at the Auditorium Theatre one night only on March 20. Featuring entertainment’s brightest stars, Concert for America debuted its monthly series to universal acclaim at the Town Hall in New York City on January 20, 2017. The innovation of Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley (who also organized the Broadway for Orlando benefit recording of What the World Needs Now Is Love), Chicago’s Concert for America will feature two-time Tony winner Chita Rivera, Grammy winner and two-time Academy Award nominee Melissa Manchester, two-time Emmy winner Sharon Gless, SiriusXM’s Christine Pedi, blues singer Lynne Jordan, actor Marya Grandy, and cast members from Chicago’s Hamilton. Additional performers will be announced soon.
“We are so excited to bring Concert for America to Chicago,” said Rudetsky and Wesley. “Not only will stars like Chita Rivera and Melissa Manchester be joining us, but we’ll also be featuring a number of artists from Chicago like Lynne Jordan and Marya Grandy, as well as cast members from Hamilton. We’re also happy to announce that we are offering tickets as low as $18, so everyone can come and see us live.”
Concert for America, which combines song, comedy, and commentary into one performance, has been hailed as “striking for its emphasis on the importance of faith in the United States and optimism about its future” by the New York Times.
Proceeds from Concert for America: Stand Up, Sing Out! will benefit five national organizations working to protect human rights: Planned Parenthood, NAACP, Southern Poverty Law Center, National Immigration Law Center, and the Sierra Club Foundation.
Concert for America: Stand Up, Sing Out! is created and organized by Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley, in association with Your Kids, Our Kids, a 501(c)(3) organization founded by Rudetsky and Wesley. It is co-produced by Joey Monda and Frankie Dailey.
