Philanthropist Betty Schoenbaum to be Honored
at the 2017 Renaissance Legacy Luncheon

The celebrated area philanthropist is being honored for her 30-year support of the center’s legacy scholarship program.
(Sarasota-Manatee, FL) The Women’s Resource Center is honoring philanthropist Betty Schoenbaum at its 2017 Renaissance Luncheon. Ms. Schoenbaum is being honored for her 30-year support of the center’s legacy scholarship program for non-traditional women students. ABC-7 news anchor Hayley Wielgus will emcee the luncheon. The event is Tuesday, March 21, 11:30 a.m., at Michael’s On East, 1212 S East Ave, Sarasota. Tickets are $100 and can be purchased by calling 941-366-1700 or via email at [email protected].
“Betty Schoenbaum has been a wonderful supporter our scholarship program. She has shared how meaningful it is for her to support others in gaining an education,” says Ashley Brown, president and CEO of the Women’s Resource Center. “Her generosity has empowered hundreds of women to pursue a post-secondary education and enhance their lives and the lives of their families. Betty believes that the joy of giving is the joy of living. She lives by this credo and has positively impacted the lives of thousands of people in our community. We’re honored to honor her. Her legacy has an ongoing impact.”
The WRC legacy scholarship program began in Sarasota in 1986 and serves non-traditional female students, many of whom return to school after years or even decades following high school graduation. The WRC has awarded more than 1,000 scholarships since the inception of the program.
The luncheon’s co-chairs are Anila Jain, M.D. and Dr. Mona Jain. The event’s committee members include Jean Abrams, Ashley Grant, Arthur Guilford, Elizabeth Kagele, Phil King, Bill Mariotti and Diana Michel.
