Designing Daughters of Sarasota teams up with Roskamp Foundation to maximize community impact
SARASOTA, Fla. – Designing Daughters of Sarasota (DesigningDaughtersSarasota.com), a charitable society of young professional women dedicated to enhancing the community and cultivating the next generation of philanthropists through strategic granting, is teaming up with The Roskamp Foundation to allow significant growth and permit Designing Daughters to focus additional attention on the fundraising goals of 2017 and beyond. With no overhead, nearly 100% of funds raised by Designing Daughters will go to selected local nonprofits.
Starting March 1, 2017, Designing Daughters of Sarasota (DD) will be working alongside the Roskamp Foundation to raise funds for local charities. This partnership is something that has been long contemplated and feels completely organic as DD of Sarasota was originally conceived by Foundation Co-Trustee Diane Roskamp and DD Founder Shelley Lister. This past year alone Designing Daughters raised over $70,000 for area nonprofits, with grants ranging from $2,000 to $5,000. During November, a formal grants ceremony was held at The Community Foundation of Sarasota County and more than 15 grants were announced.
“Designing Daughters of Sarasota continues to serve and enrich our community. The Roskamp Foundation’s progressive mission and DD’s mission are similar because we both believe in investing in our community and fostering an environment where young talent can thrive.’’ Diane Roskamp, Founder. ‘’We feel so fortunate that DD has selected us as their community partner and look forward to working together in the years to come.’’
‘’Designing Daughters is now that much stronger with the support of The Roskamp Foundation. Being under the Roskamp umbrella will allow us to focus more on raising funds and giving grants and focus less on internal and administrative functions. We are very grateful and honored by this relationship.” Incoming DD President, Elli Baldwin.
This year’s grants given totaled over $61,000. This year’s grants recipients were as follows: Florida Rescue Farm, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Easter Seals Southwest Florida, Pines of Sarasota, NeuroChallenge Foundation, Take Stock in Children of Sarasota County, Inc., Children First, Inc., Everyday Blessings, InStride Therapy, Inc., Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium, More Too Life, Inc, The Sarasota Ballet‘s Dance the Next Generation Program, The Mark Wandall Foundation, and several more.
