About Ice Theatre of New York
Founded in 1984 by Moira North, Ice Theatre of New York (ITNY) has changed the face of figure skating by creating works that integrate the sensibilities of movement, music and art.  Its mission is to elevate dance on ice as a performance art.   Through its performances in both traditional and site-specific venues, ITNY presents ice dance that opens one’s eyes to seeing skating in unexpected ways.  ITNY was the first ice dance company to receive dance program funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.  In addition to building and performing works of artistic merit, ITNY also reaches out to the next generation of skaters and audiences through education, community outreach and training programs.
PERFORMER BIOS
Starr Andrews
Current United States Junior Silver Medalist. Starr Andrews was introduced to skating at the age of three years old.  Fascinated by the shiny blades, she found the job of watching her mom skate from the bleachers tortuous.  A precocious child and determined to skate, she took off at lighting speed once granted the privileged. At the age of 9, Starr hit center ice with her artistic “Whip My Hair” routine, earning her over 42 million hits on YouTube.  Recognized as raw talent and talked about on every social network from Ryan Seacrest, Lipstick Alley, Vibe, World Star Hip Hop, Black Celebrity Kids, and many many more. She has attracted fans from Cape Code to Japan with over 49,200 followers. Starr continues to strive towards excellence in figure skating at the Junior Ladies Level, and now part of Team USA. With her eyes set on the Olympics of 2018 and 2022, she’s moving forward in her dream to become the first African American to win Gold at a winter Olympics.
Derrick Delmore
Derrick Delmore is a former National, collegiate, U.S. Olympic Festival and World Junior Champion.  He competed at 18 consecutive U.S. Nationals and was a member of the U.S. International Team for 14 straight years.  He has served as head coach for skaters in the U.S., Great Britian, Hong Kong and Singapore international teams; aand has coached three U.S. National Medalists.  As well as coaching, Derrick is also a choreographer, and has choreographed programs for skaters in Japan, Korea, Norway, Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, Hong Kong and of course, the U.S. His programs have won national and international medals, including those of his student Starr Andrews, current Junior National Silver Medalist.
Rohene Ward
Rohene Ward may be the most decorated show skater in the world.  While there isn’t an Olympic Gold Medal awarded to the crowds favorite he is the current United States Open Professional Champion and known around the world for his incredible talents on the ice.  His originality, creativity, flexibility and technical strength combined make him one of the most popular show skaters internationally. Rohene competed four times at the United States Championships and in 2004 was crowned Puerto Rican National Champion.  As a skater, he was best known for being able to jump and spin in both directions – a task that very few Olympians have ever accomplished publicly.

His talents don’t stop “on” the ice.  He has choreographed for national, world and Olympic athletes and in 2015 was named Choreographer of the year by the Professional Skaters Association – the highest honor in his field.  His students include Mariah Bell, Jordan Moeller, Courtney Hicks, U.S. National Champion Jason Brown, Olympians Madison Chock and Evan Bates along with many others.
