Don’t just sit there on the Howard Frankland Bridge after work. Let the music move you instead at happy hour with The Florida Orchestra. Start with free select drinks and snacks before an hour-long concert with Bernstein’s Candide Overture, Brahms’ Academic Festival Overture and Prokofiev’s Summer Day. Stuart Malina conducts. Then linger in the lobby afterward to sip and say hi to your favorite TFO musicians.

Doors and bars open at 5:30 pm, hour-long concert at 6:30 pm.

Gala Concert Featuring Itzhak Perlman

Undeniably the reigning virtuoso of the violin, Itzhak Perlman is a rare classical superstar, beloved for his charm and humanity as well as his talent. In Mr. Perlman’s gala concert with The Florida Orchestra, he will join Music Director Michael Francis on stage to perform some of his favorite music from the silver screen, including As Time Goes By from Casablanca, the Love Theme from Cinema Paradiso, and the Theme from Schindler’s List. This extraordinary evening is also an important fundraiser to support TFO’s community engagement programs.

The playful power of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2 is set against the soft, entrancing tones of French composer Duruflé’s Requiem, featuring the Master Chorale of Tampa Bay. Despite its name, there’s nothing wicked about Debussy’s Danse Sacrée et Danse Profane. It’s light and beautiful, with TFO Principal Harp Anna Kate Mackle as the soloist. Michael Francis conducts.
