Joe Goddard’s remix of The Chemical Brothers’ “Wide Open” – a song from Born In The Echoes -has been nominated for a GRAMMY Award in the Best Remixed Recording category. The Chemical Brothers were the first electronic act ever to receive a GRAMMY Award, winning in the Best Rock Instrumental Performance category for “Block Rockin’ Beats.” The song, which appeared on 1997’s RIAA Gold-certified album Dig Your Own Hole, was the first track by an electronic artist to chart at Alternative radio. 2005’s “Galvanize” featuring Q-Tip took the GRAMMY for Best Dance Recording while the albums Push the Button (2005) and We Are the Night (2007) won in the Best Electronic/Dance Album category. Further (2010), the 2012 live album, Don’t Think, and 2015’s Born In The Echoes were each nominated for Best Dance/Electronic Album and the 2015 single “Go” featuring Q-Tip was nominated for Best Dance Recording. The Chemical Brothers have sold 12 million albums and six million singles worldwide.
“C-h-e-m-i-c-a-l,”the band’s new, standalone track, is available for download on iTunes and streaming on Spotify. Stereogum hailed the track as “a deeply catchy and funky breakbeat-techno anthem, exactly the sort of thing these guys got famous making in the first place.” The official video for “C-h-e-m-i-c-a-l,” directed by Adam Smith and Marcus Lyall, was inspired by vintage children’s television programming. Characters were filmed with a Kinnect Camera – equipment usually used for motion scanning in computer games – and then twisted into holographic, neon ravers. View the “C-h-e-m-i-c-a-l”video HERE.
