TEXAS RANGERS TO HOST KOREAN AMERICAN HERITAGE NIGHT

 

ON FRIDAY, JULY 11 AT GLOBE LIFE PARK IN ARLINGTON

Arlington, TX—The Texas Rangers will host the first ever Korean American Heritage Night at Globe Life Park in Arlington on Friday, July 11 when the club hosts the Los Angeles Angels in a 7:05 p.m. game.

 

 

 

The details of the event, which is being organized in conjunction with the Korean Society of Dallas and News Korea Texas, Inc., were announced this morning.

 

 

 

Tickets for the Korean American Heritage Night game are now on sale at texasrangers.com/group tickets by clicking on link for Korean organizations and using password KOREA14. They can also be purchased at 972.RANGERS or through the Korean Society of Dallas (972-241-4524) or News Korea Texas, Inc. (972-247-9111). Fans who purchase tickets for Korean American Heritage Night through any of these means will receive information about getting a special Shin-Soo Choo rally towel to wave on the night of the event.

 

 

 

Several performances by local Korean groups will highlight the activities. These will include Jiae Park and her Team performing the Korean Drum Dance on the concourse of Globe Life Park before the game. Ms. Park is an Adjunct Professor of Dance at Tarrant County College and Director of the Soom Dance Company. In addition, there will be a performance of traditional Korean percussion music “Samulnori” by Hansol Dallas, a 40-member team directed by Sungshin Park that will take place outside the First Base Gate prior to the game.    

 

 

 

Texas Taekwondo United will perform on-field after the game and before the start of the Friday Night Fireworks show. The team includes Olympic Gold Medalist Nan Yool Choo and former Korea National Demonstration Team members Janghun Bang and Sang-Jin Lee.

 

 

 

The National Korean Tourism Organization will also lend their support to the event by providing giveaways and information that will be distributed that night on Korean culture and customs. Other local organizations who are involved will include the Korean Senior Citizens Association, Korean War Veteran Association, Dallas Korean Women’s Association, Korean Trade Association, Korean Entertainers Association, Texas Donut Association, Korean Amateur Sports Association, Korean Literature Association, Korean American Women’s Association, Korean Soccer Association, Greater Dallas Korean American Chamber of Commerce, Korean American Professional Network, KIMWA, Choongchung Province Association, and the Korean Cultural Center of Dallas.

 

 

 

The Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation is also working with the Korean Society of Dallas on a community endeavor with more details to be announced.

 

 

 

Dallas Korean Radio AM 730, which is broadcasting selected Texas Rangers games in Korean this season, will provide live coverage of the July 11 game from Globe Life Park.
