LAKE STREET DIVE PERFORMED 4 SONGS PREMIERE EPISODE OF A PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION WITH CHRIS THILE FROM FITZGERALD THEATER IN ST. PAUL, MN

PERFORMANCE INCLUDED TRIBUE TO LATE LOCAL LEGEND PRINCE “WHEN YOU WERE MINE”

Lake Street Dive were special guests on Saturday’s premiere episode of American Public Media’s
A Prairie Home Companion with Chris Thile. “Lake Street Dive once opened for my band Punch Brothers at the Bowery Ballroom – and I knew right then that in a year, at the outside, we would be opening for them”, said the new host in his introduction. The show, broadcast live around the world from a sold-out Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, MN, is streaming now in its entirety at www.prairiehome.org. and video for two of the band’s songs can be seen here: “Mistakes” and “Radio Boogie/Get It Out on the Radio” with Chris Thile and The First-Call Radio Players.
Additionally, Lake Street Dive paid tribute to the late local legend Prince by playing his “When You Were Mine,” a crowd favorite during the band’s recent US tour, plus two other songs from their recent Nonesuch release Side Pony: “Call off Your Dogs” and “Godawful Things.”
The shows on Lake Street Dive’s tour have been widely praised, with Billboard writing that the band successfully combined “Amy Whitehouse, Rita Hayworth and R&B Charisma at LA show.” The quartet finished the US leg of the tour playing sold-out shows at the iconic Wang Theatre in Boston and Radio City Music Hall in New York and now head to Europe for the second time this year.
Side Pony, which Rolling Stone called “irresistible,” was produced by Grammy winner Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell).  Upon its release the album was #1 on the Alternative chart and #11 on the Billboard Album Sales chart.
Since the release, the quartet – drummer Michael Calabrese, bassist Bridget Kearney, singer Rachael Price, and guitarist/trumpeter Michael “McDuck” Olson – has been touring the globe in support of the album, including a sold out show at The Ryman in Nashville, three sold out dates with The Dave Matthews Band at The Gorge in Washington state, and the band’s own festival Amourasarous in Western Massachusetts.
