Jazz and Blues Festival Highlights Florida’s Culture of Live Music
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Nothing will ever be the same. That is the goal in bringing the Florida Jazz and Blues Festival to life this weekend. That, and making it one of the best festivals in the world.
Taking place this evening through Sunday, this three-day festival will give proper recognition to Florida’s place in American music history. Thousands are expected to attend at the Capital City Amphitheater in Tallahassee’s Cascades Park, a place that neighbors the site of the Smokey Hollow community, which carries real meaning to both Jazz and Blues and Civil Rights. The event will pay tribute to jazz music legends and give attendees unforgettable experiences through live music.
Brought to life by a small citizen-led festival team, which includes two-time GRAMMY Award Winner and Director of the Legendary Count Basie Orchestra Scotty Barnhart, in partnership with local government, corporate partners, and community patrons, the talent that will collide includes GRAMMY Award-winning artists, high-octane blues, lift-your-feet jazz, and some of the best international, national, regional and local Jazz and Blues artists in the world.
Offering both free and ticketed events, the entire event is open to the press at designated viewing areas. Members of the press are asked to present a current year news media credential in conjunction with a government-issued photo ID, such as a valid state driver’s license or passport. If a current year news media credential is not available, a valid business card in conjunction with a government-issued photo ID, such as a valid state driver’s license or passport, may be accepted. A festival media credential will be issued at that point from the information booth on-site.
