First Annual Bradenton Arts and Movieville International Film Festival, May 8-18, 2014 a Success

May 8 thru 18th 2014 Marked the First Annual Bradenton Arts and Movieville International Film Festival. This was the fourth year for Movieville International Film Festival in the Sarasota-Manatee area. Bradenton merged with Movieville this year to make an even bigger and better event. A roller coaster ride of 10 days of Fabulous Events, Networking, Films, Concerts & Entertainment, ending with A Red Carpet Gala Award Cermony. The festival kicked off May 8th with a VIP Mix N Mingle Event at the Powel Crosley Mansion. A Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Grammy Award winning guitarist and musician Rick Derringer. Highlights in Ricks “timeline” include 1965 as a member of The McCoys he had #1 hit single with “Hang on Sloopy” In 1974 Rick scored a huge hit with “Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo”. Rick has performed Solo and collaborated with Edgar Winter, Johnny Winter, and with Steely Dan. The Rick Derringer band (Including Charlie Torres & Kenn Moutenot ) hits the road soon for a Smashing Summer Tour. Entertainment included pianist Jaimie Taber and a Very special Fire hoop dance performance by the talented Margueite Barnett & Ms Bonnie B. On May 10th festivities kicked off at the Bradenton Area Convention Center with The ShowBiz Expo held during the day which included 60 Sponsors and tables presenting products, services and talent. Photographers flashed and stage performances and panels went on through out the day including Bud Buckley, Don Juceam, Keven Aland and Joy Leitner. Forbes Riley Motivated us and Film makers, producers and actors entertained and educated us. Models and Fashions graced the event with hair and makeup provided by Blue Door Salon. The very talented Tony Corbitt Jr Produced 2 works of art during his Speed Painting Performance which he donated to the Charity Auction for Manatee Children’s Services. That evening The Legends of Country and Rock Concert followed featuring George Wallace Jr and Rick Derringer and his band. May 14th was the waterfront cocktail tiki party Sponsored by Tarpon Pointe with awards given to State College of Florida film students. Then May 15th world premiere of “Heart of the Shore” A Documentary of Hurricane Sandy’s wrath upon the Jersey Shore at South Florida Museum’s planetarium with Sheri Nadelman and her band SoulRcoaster entertaining the after party. All day film screenings ran May 16th thru 18th. On the night of May 16th there was Downtown Street party with LED dancers & live entertainment followed on May 17th by a wonderful VIP Yacht party Sponsored by Pier 22 Ending May 18th with The Grand Finale Gala, amidst the Da Vinci exhibit at the Bradenton Auditorium. Some of the Awards included Best Picture for “The Big Fat Stone” The story of a mans dreams coming true because he was in the right place at the right time. Directed & Produced by Frank D’Angelo, Starring Robert Loggia & Margot kidder. Best Foreign Film went to “Sharia” A riveting tale of two people in love from different cultural backgrounds by Anouar H. Smaine. Starring Said Faraj & Lauren Bynes. “Dreamland” directed by Sebastiano Sandro Ravagnani; received Best Actor Award going to Italian Movie Star Ivano De Cristofaro. Yolanda Romersa won Best Musical Score for “PALOMA”. Best Short Film went to “China The Dragon Smith ‘Second Chance’ With a touching acceptance by Lori Collins & Ray Rodriguez. “Meeting with Angels”, a documentary Produced & Directed by Angelo Rizzo won the award for Best Editing.
