LIVE AT POWELL HALL CONTINUES WITH BYRON STRIPLING

Acclaimed jazz trumpeter performs with the Symphony Friday evening

 

(ST. LOUIS) The St. Louis Symphony’s Live at Powell Hall programming continues Friday, May 30 with The Gospel According to Swing, featuring trumpet sensation Byron Stripling.  Stripling returns to perform with the orchestra, playing swing hits with soulful gospel undertones.  The concert features the music of Mahalia Jackson and Louis Armstrong, and the influences of artists such as Bessie Smith, Duke Ellington and Aretha Franklin, selections will include “Down by the Riverside,” Nobody Knows the Trouble I’ve Seen,” and “He’s Got the Whole World.”
