In July, “One Dance” fought off The Chainsmoker’s “Don’t Let Me Down” to remain the #1 most streamed song for the second month in a row. “Zootopia” also outshined the superhero showdown “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice“, topping the movie charts for the second month in a row. Excitement for Game of Thrones continued with early pre-orders landing it in the Top 5 TV shows in July. Throwbacks were strong in July, as the Google Play store had a nearly 400% increase in “Ghostbusters” and “Ghostbusters ll” sales…and just in case you’ve been under a rock and didn’t hear, the Pokémon are back.

Let’s go find Pikachu: In addition to being the top Game in July, “Pokémon Go” was also the most searched for term in the Google Play Store in the U.S. The general term of “Pokémon” was the overall 6th most searched for term in July as consumers were looking not just for the hottest game, but any Pokémon-related music, books, TV shows and movies. |
