CULVER CITY, CA – Tuesday, July 26, 2016 – Sony Movie Channel sizzles this summer with a primetime August lineup packed with premieres featuring explosive actioners, Western epics, extraterrestrial thrillers, and many more. This month’s roster includes a steamy Endless Bikini Summer marathon every Tuesday night, in honor of 70 years of the bikini; as well as a Sunday block of cinematic masterpieces that includes THE NATURAL and GLORY; and an explosive Manday Mondays block with action all-stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chuck Norris, Steven Seagal, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren, and more.
MANDAYS Action Block—Every Monday at 10 p.m. ET
Start the week with some of cinema’s most beloved action stars, in this hard-hitting lineup kicking off with Chuck Norris in AN EYE FOR AN EYE, with Richard Roundtree and Christopher Lee, and Steven Seagal in SHADOW MAN, with Imelda Staunton (August 1). Then, Jean-Claude Van Damme battles a super-computer in UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: THE RETURN with Bill Goldberg, and leads an army of genetically-enhanced warriors in UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: DAY OF RECKONING, with Dolph Lundgren (August 8). The month continues with Michael Jai White as an underground fighter in BLOOD AND BONE, and Samuel L. Jackson lords over modern-day gladiators in ARENA, with Kellan Lutz (August 15); followed by Arnold Schwarzenegger as an ex-agent on the hunt for a killer in RAW DEAL (August 22). Endless Bikini Summer—Every Tuesday in August at 10 p.m. ET
SMC celebrates 70 years of summer’s most enduring fashion statement, with the sizzling Endless Bikini Summer stunt, airing every Tuesday in August at 10 p.m. ET. The bikini was originally introduced by French engineer Louis Réard in July of 1946, and named after the atomic bomb testing site Bikini Atoll. The month-long event includes ALL AMERICAN BIKINI CAR WASH and MALIBU SPRING BREAK (August 2); THE BIKINI CARWASH COMPANY and THE BIKINI CARWASH COMPANY II (August 9); Johnny Depp in PRIVATE RESORT—just his second big screen role—followed by BIKINI ACADEMY (August 16); HARDBODIES and HARDBODIES 2, with James Karen (August 23); and MALIBU SPRING BREAK and SPRING BREAK, directed by FRIDAY THE 13TH helmer Sean S. Cunningham (August 30). All nine films—along with the 1985 comedy CAVEGIRL—will air in a special Endless Bikini Summer Marathon on Saturday, August 27, at 11 a.m. ET.
DJANGO (1966)—Network Premiere—Wed., August 3 at 8 p.m. ET
When a violent Confederate gang sets their sights on a desert town, a drifter (Franco Nero) teams up with revolutionaries to defeat them in this Spaghetti Western favorite. The film was a major influence on director Quentin Tarantino, who pays tribute to it in his 2012 opus DJANGO UNCHAINED, which also featured a cameo by Nero.
THE ARRIVAL Franchise—Fri., August 5 at 10 p.m. ET
SMC presents a pair of out of this world premieres, starring Charlie Sheen as an astronomer who uncovers an alien conspiracy in THE ARRIVAL. And a hacker (Patrick Muldoon) must stop aliens from enslaving earth in THE SECOND ARRIVAL at 12aE.
