Andrew Leahey & the Homestead Prepare for ‘Skyline in Central Time,’ Out Aug. 5
Heartland Rock & Roll Band Finds Inspiration in Frontman’s Recovery From Brain Surgery
Andrew Leahey & the Homestead — a melody-driven, American rock & roll band inspired by artists like Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, and Steve Earle — will deliver their national debut, Skyline in Central Time, on August 5th, in partnership with Thirty Tigers/RED.
Produced by Wilco co-founder Ken Coomer, who also plays drums on every track, the 11-song album was written on either side of a high-risk operation to remove a tumor from Andrew’s brain.
“My neurosurgeon gave me the diagnosis and explained that if I didn’t have brain surgery, I would lose my hearing, my balance, the ability to control my face, and potentially my life,” says Andrew, whose operation required the band to slam the brakes on a busy, cross-country tour schedule.
Now fully recovered, Andrew writes every song on Skyline in Central Time, an album that shines a light on his talent as a singer, lead guitarist, and storyteller. Full of Les Paul guitar riffs, stacked vocal harmonies, and sweeping organ, these 11 songs nod to Andrew’s influences while still pushing forward, using the city of Nashville — a rapidly-growing place that, like Andrew, has experienced more than a few changes over the past two years — as a backdrop.
Already championed by publications like Rolling Stone, Paste, American Songwriter, and The Boston Globe, Andrew Leahey & the Homestead have built an audience on the strength of a touring schedule that’s taken them from coast to coast, opening for artists like Emmylou Harris and the Wild Feathers along the way.
The group will play a hometown show at Nashville’s Acme Feed & Seed on Wednesday, June 1, at 9 p.m.
