RHP Phil Klein optioned to Round Rock
Detroit, Michigan–The Texas Rangers today announced that right-handed pitcher Anthony Ranaudo has been recalled from Triple-A Round Rock of the Pacific Coast League.
Ranaudo (#53) will join the club on Friday in Detroit. To make room on the active roster, right-handed Phil Klein has been optioned to Round Rock.
Ranaudo, 26, is 1-1 with a 2.03 ERA (3 ER/13.1 IP) in 3 starts with Round Rock this season. Ranaudo had three stints with Texas in 2015, going 0-1, 7.63 in 4 games/2 starts. Acquired from Boston in January 2015, he is 4-4, 5.60 in 11 career games/9 starts with the Red Sox and Rangers.
Klein, who allowed one run in 1.0 inning on Thursday at Toronto, is 0-1, 5.19 in 8 relief appearances over two stints with Texas this season.
With today’s moves, the Rangers’ major league roster remains at 40 players.
