MOSI’s Crime Fighters Weekend celebrates real heroes with free admission for police, fire, and EMS staff – plus guests get hands-on with real police vehicles and tech
After a month cheering on imaginary heroes with a Superhero Festival, Tampa’s Museum of Science & Industry is celebrating real heroes with free admission, a discount for their families, and hands-on displays of the tools that capture actual villains here in the Tampa Bay Area.
Tampa, FL – During MOSI’s Crime Fighters Weekend, April 16 and 17, first responders will get in free to explore MOSI’s exhibits, and up to four guests in their party will get 50 percent off the price of admission, with a valid staff ID from any law enforcement agency, fire rescue agency, or emergency medical services agency.
Plus, all guests will get the chance to see and touch a range of real law enforcement vehicles – from ATV’s and high-tech trucks to SWAT team units – right outside MOSI’s front doors. The technology on display comes from MOSI’s partners in the event, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Tampa Police Department, and Temple Terrace Police Department. This hands-on experience is included with MOSI admission.
“We’ve had an awesome Superhero Festival, with hands-on demonstrations of the science behind superheroes’ powers, showing Batman v Superman in the Florida Hospital IMAX DOME Theatre, a comic book swap, and a high-flying ceremony for Florida’s Teacher of the Year on our Sky Trail Zip Line,” said MOSI President and CEO Molly Demeulenaere. “This is a chance to celebrate and thank those real heroes who put their lives on the line in our community, saving the day – every day – for all of us.”
April 16 and 17 also some of the final opportunities to see Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on the 10,500 square feet of screen inside the enormous Florida Hospital IMAX® DOME Theatre, the most immersive movie experience in the state. First responders will receive the MOSI member discounted rate on tickets to see the movie bought during Crime Fighters Weekend.
MOSI is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays and the exhibits admission for first responders includes more than 450 hands-on exhibits, a star show in the Saunders Planetarium, Kids in Charge! children’s science center, and our amazing temporary exhibit Dinosaurs in Motion, which ends May 8.
