RANGERS ACTIVATE 3B ADRIAN BELTRE FROM 15-DAY DISABLED LIST;

PLACE 3B KEVIN KOUZMANOFF ON 15-DAY DISABLED LIST

RHP Hector Noesi sent to White Sox on waiver claim

Seattle, Wash. — The Texas Rangers announced today that the club has activated third baseman Adrian Beltre from the 15-day disabled list.  The team has also placed third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Wednesday, April 23, with a herniated L5-S1 disc in his lower back.

Beltre was placed on the disabled list on April 13, retroactive to April 9, with a strained left quad.  In his last game with the Rangers on April 8 at Boston, Beltre made an early exit with the quad injury.  Yesterday was the first date that Beltre was eligible to return from the disabled list.  He is batting .286 with 3 doubles, no home runs, and 4 RBI in 8 games for Texas this season.

Kouzmanoff left the game on Tuesday at Oakland due to lower back tightness.  He has batted .362 (17-47) with 2 home runs, 6 doubles, and 10 RBI in 13 games since having his contract purchased from Round Rock (AAA) on April 9 when Beltre suffered his quad injury.  Kouzmanoff was the American League Player of the Week for April 14-20.

With this move, the Rangers have now had a major league-high 13 players on the disabled list this season, and the current 11 players on the disabled list are also most in MLB.  The club has a full 40-man roster.

NOESI CLAIMED: Right-handed pitcher Hector Noesi, designated for assignment by Texas on Tuesday, was sent to the Chicago White Sox on a waiver claim today.  Noesi made 3 relief appearances with Texas after being acquired from Seattle in an April 12 trade, allowing 7 runs in 5.1 innings.
