Focus on declawing of both exotic and domesticated cats in America
Sarasota, Florida – (April 25, 2014) – Cat Depot will present a one-time showing of The Paw Project documentary film on Saturday, June 7 at 4:30 p.m. at Lakewood Ranch Cinemas, 10715 Rodeo Dr #8, Lakewood Ranch, FL 34202. Tickets are on sale exclusively by Cat Depot at www.catdepot.org., or at Cat Depot, 2542 17th Street, Sarasota, Fla. The film is sponsored by Diana and Patrick Maloney, Sarasota, Fla. The Paw Project chronicles the efforts of Dr. Jennifer Conrad and the grassroots movement she founded to protect cats, both large and small. The main message of the film is to raise awareness and for the United States to make declawing illegal. Conrad cites that up to 22 million domestic cats are currently declawed in the United States.
The Paw Project follows Conrad through attempts in California to ban declawing procedures. The film includes a listing of the countries in where declawing is illegal, including Australia, Brazil, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and others. Since the filming of The Paw Project, the United States Department of Agriculture has enacted a ban on the declawing and defanging of wild and exotic carnivores. The Paw Project organization and Conrad are continuing work for legislation that would make declawing illegal for domestic cats as well.
