120 G-Star School of the Arts Students Sport NIKE Shoot
Brings Tiger Woods, Michelle Wie, Rory McIlroy
Palm Springs, FL (3/21/2016) – G-Star School of the Arts (www.GStarSchool.org), once again, gets celebrity foot traffic because of NIKE commercial shoot. G-Star Studios’ Sound Stage 1 featured celebrities from the world of sports such as Tiger Woods, Michelle Wie and Rory McIlroy.
Many others that are also major golf tour winners were subjects in the first still photography shoot for NIKE on an earlier date at G-Star Studios. Five film classes which included over 120 students from the G-Star School of the Arts for Film, Animation and Performing Arts were on stage and given personal instructions by the Director, Producer and world famous American photographer, Carlos Serrao. According to Wikipedia, Carlos Serrao in best known for intense sports action to high fashion distinct look that elevates his subjects to visual stardom. His crisp light and subtle color palette have illuminated the faces of Jack Nicholson, Will Ferrell, Michael Jordan, Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams and Kobe Bryant and have brought him a list of advertising and editorial clients including Sony, NIKE, GQ, TIME, Visa, and the Olympics. G-Star students got to see his work first hand.
The NIKE public relations director stated, “The students were great! They were so attentive and respectful and asked great questions. We’ll definitely be back here again,” stated Greg Hauptner, Founder & CEO of G-Star School of the Arts. “It’s experiences like this that add to our students forward and creative thinking, and learn from the best,” added Hauptner.
The students were shown how the massive photography set was designed, how the lighting was set up, the types of cameras that were used, and how the cameras work both technically and artistically. The students had a fantastic time on set learning from the top professionals in the business. They appreciated the being on set with a world famous photographer. Most commercials produced at the G-Star Studios in the G-Star Sound Stage 1 are film productions. This training in still photography was particularly instructional. Several G-Star students have won world-wide still photography competitions. Learning from Carlos Serrao was honor and a once-in-a-lifetime event.

The Palm Beach International Film Festival Student Film Showcase Turns Proudly to G-Star…Again!
Palm Springs, March 20, 2016—G-Star School of the Arts (www.GStarSchool.org) students truly felt the glam and glitz of Hollywood, right in the heart of Boca Raton at the Lynn University Theater & Auditorium. Students from G-Star School of the Arts walked the red carpet alongside beautiful classic automobiles, Hollywood performers and musicians while followed, photographed and interviewed by media.
“I’m always proud of our student’s accomplishments, but seeing them glow with joy upon meeting some of their influencers, tops the evening for me,” said G-Star Founder & CEO, Greg Hauptner. “Earning the top filmmaker award, the Burt Reynolds Scholarship, was Jonathan Lockhart, Jr.; and the second major award, the Sarah Fuller Scholarship, went to William Ruback, both G-Star students has really turned heads and triggered tours for many 8th grade parents,” he added.
The event culminates a triumphant six-year run by G-Star students winning the Burr Reynolds Scholarship Award over 1550 submissions made by high school and college students from throughout Florida. Not only did G-Star students sweep the two premier awards this year – again, student Cristian Aguiar’s film “Equality” won Best Mental Health Awareness PSA; and a new category was introduced this year by G-Star as well: Best Film Shot on Cell Phone by middle school students.
The first annual G-Star Cell Phone Film Festival for Middle School Students was held at the G-Star Studios located on the sprawling backlot with a lion at the front gate and a campus resembling a Paramount Pictures locale in Hollywood, California. Their cell phone films were judged by Academy Award and Emmy Award winning Writers, Producers, Directors and Cinematographers of such films and TV shows as CRASH, Million Dollar Baby, Legally Blonde, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Goth am, and Rock of Ages. Over 140 middle school students were given the opportunity to shoot 33 films in a real motion picture sound stage and on the back lot of the largest movie studio in south Florida. Winners were Joseph DeAngelis and Jacob Meyer for Best Film for Bully Killer.

G-Star School of the Arts Graduates Dig Through Florida
Archaeological History During Florida Archaeology Month
Sarasota, FL, 3/16/2016—G-Star School of the Arts (www.GStarSchool.org) graduates have joined the expedition during Florida Archaeology Month, celebrating the people and material history of the Sarasota-Manatee area. A group of New College of Florida students helped by Dr. Uzi Baram and Valerie Jackson Bell, set up an informative exhibit for March at the Jane Bancroft-Cook library.
A six-minute video showcasing significant archaeological sites around the Sarasota-Manatee area produced by G-Star School of the Arts graduates and New College Florida students, Kara DiComo and Michael Bychek, as well as fellow NCF student Hayley Trejo was on a loop. The exhibit also featured an interactive section with a logic puzzle, clay cuisine replicas, a video game, and an opportunity to connect with information spanning thousands of years!
Many experienced a personal and hands-on tour of the space and activities involved in the exhibit at the Jane B. Cook Library at New College of Florida in Sarasota, Florida and got a hands-on experience.
