The internationally acclaimed ensemble The Western Wind, which has been called ‘stunning’ by the Los Angeles Times, is now in their 47th year. They will be celebrating one of their founding members and artistic co-director, baritone Elliot Z. Levine, in a concert at Merkin Hall, NYC on Saturday, March 12th @ 8pm.

This will be a farewell concert honoring Eilliot Z. Levine, as he will be leaving the ensemble later this year. The concert will feature original compositions and arrangements by Elliot. You may be familiar with Elliot’s original composition for Thank You God (E.E. Cummings). Elliot’s music was featured on the landmark ‘Judaica Series’ on NPR. Many of his compositions are considered ‘traditional’ and are sung in synagogues across the country.

Elliot Z. Levine is a native New Yorker. A Master’s graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, he has taught at City College, Upsala College, the Lighthouse Music School, and the Hebrew Arts School. He has been a featured soloist with the RAI Orchestra at Rome, the Rome Opera, La Fenice, Musica Sacra, The Folger Consort, the Kalamazoo Bach Festival and the Ensemble for Early Music. Mr. Levine is the cantorial soloist at Temple Emanuel in Great Neck, NY, and has been a composer-in-residence at St. Thomas More Church in New York City. Many of his works have been performed and commissioned by choruses and solo artists around the country and he has written and arranged numerous works for The Western Wind. Harold Flammer, E. Henry David, Willis, Plymouth Music, Colla Voce, and Shadow Press publish his works.
