ANONYMOUS IS A WOMAN THEATRE COMPANY PRESENT F.A.N.Y (FIRST AID NURSING YEOMANRY) AT THE ARTS THEATRE WEST END

15 March – 2 April
Above the Arts at the Arts Theatre

Great Newport Street, London WC2H 7JB

Innovative theatre company Anonymous Is A Woman present F.A.N.Y (First Aid Nursing Yeomanry), at the Arts Theatre West End’s studio space, Above The Arts, from 15 March – 2 April 2016. Part of ‘Women in the West End’, a three week programme featuring performance, new writing, creativity and networking inspired by herstory. F.A.N.Y will be the headline production.

F.A.N.Y
Five Women. One War. One Purpose.
A fascinating tale of comradeship and the ordinary women who did extraordinary things.

F.A.N.Y tells the incredible story of the women who drove ambulances from the front line of the bloody battlefield to the nearby hospitals in France. A startling new play about courage, bravery & redemption. This evocative production immerses you in the front-line reality of the Great War from a rarely seen perspective… a woman’s.

Little has been said about these war women. 100 years after the First World War, now is the time for their story to be heard.

Based on real accounts from the F.A.N.Y records and the Imperial War Museum, F.A.N.Y is inspired by the novel Across The Blood-Red Skies by Robert Radcliffe.

The cast is Madeleine Gould, Bips Mawson, Henri Merriman, Leila Sykes and Stella Taylor.

After performing an extract at last year’s Women’s History Network Conference in Worcester to delegates from across the globe, the company has recently completed a tour of the West Midlands as part of the Imperial War Museum’s Centenary Partnership. Venues included The Artrix, Bromsgrove, The Palace Theatre, Redditch, and The Hive, Worcester and a special London performance at the Actor’s Church, Covent Garden.

F.A.N.Y will be Anonymous Is A Woman’s West End debut.

Supported by Arts Council England and the Imperial War Museum’s Centenary Partnership.

Anonymous Is A Woman Theatre Company

Anonymous Is A Woman Theatre Company is dedicated to bringing audiences high quality, engaging, theatrical experiences that tell the unheard stories of women throughout history and across the world. The company was set up by two graduates of the Drama Centre London, Bips Mawson and Leila Sykes, as a reaction against the lack of female roles in the industry. Armed with aspirations of gender equality the company wishes to tell ‘her-story’ from history, they believe in women; from the unsung heroes of our national and international past to the high profile trailblazers of today. AIAWTC’s goal is challenging, inventive and cutting edge theatre.

Women in the West End Above the Arts Takeover
From 14 March – 2 April Anonymous Is A Woman Theatre Company will host a takeover of the Above the Arts Space. In line with the company’s mission to tell the stories of women who otherwise may not be heard, Women in the West End will feature a programme of performance, new writing, creativity and networking inspired by herstory. F.A.N.Y will be the headline production. Check the Arts Theatre’s website for further details, which will be added in the new year: artstheatrewestend.co.uk/
