(Sarasota-Manatee) The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee, in partnership with Sarasota Sister Cities Association, The Perlman Program/Suncoast, and Tel Mond, Israel, present “A Cultural Evening of Dance and Music” featuring the NOOA Dancers from the dance school at the Tel Mond Sheldon Cultural Center in Tel Mond, Israel, (Sarasota’s sister city), and three acclaimed alumni from The Perlman Music Program, February 17, 7 p.m., at Riverview High School Auditorium, 1 Ram Way, Sarasota. “Our relationship with Tel Mond, Israel, dates back to the 1980s and has evolved through the years,” says Andrea Eiffert, the Federation’s Teen and Family Program coordinator. She explains that the group, comprised of 24 high school students, will perform classic, jazz, modern and Israeli dance styles. The name, “NOOA” means “movement.”

Also featured as part of this performance are international alumni of The Perlman Music Program playing musical selections by Johannes Brahms, Astor Piazzolla, Camille Saint-Saëns, and Robert Schumann. The featured musicians are violinist Molly Carr, a top prize winner in the 2008 Primrose International Viola Competition and winner of the 2010 Juilliard Viola Concerto Competition; Israeli cellist Oded Hadar, a recipient of the Audience Choice Prize in the Aviv Cello Competition and a three-time winner of both the strings and chamber music competitions of the Buchmann Mehta School of Music; and pianist Yannick Rafalimanana, winner of the first prize in the 2012 Tufts/New England Conservatory Soloist Competition.
