ASPEN, Colo.—The Aspen Music Festival and School’s presentation of the Metropolitan Opera’s Peabody and Emmy Award-winning series The Met: Live in HD continues this winter at 5:30 p.m. in the Wheeler Opera House. Carefully curated by the AMFS artistic personnel, the series presents some of the best offerings from the Met’s current season, presented in the comfort of the Wheeler with gourmet box dinners available from European Caterers. The schedule includes:
Verdi’s Il Trovatore, January 28
Soprano Anna Netrebko’s dramatic and vocal skills are on full display as Leonora, the Verdi heroine who sacrifices her own life for the love of the gypsy troubadour.
Verdi’s Otello, February 9
Director Bartlett Sher probes the Moor’s dramatic downfall with an outstanding cast: tenor Aleksandrs Antonenko plays the doomed Otello.
Berg’s Lulu, February 25
Acclaimed artist and director William Kentridge (The Nose) applies his unique theatrical vision to Berg’s notorious femme fatale who shatters lives, including her own.
Puccini’s Turandot, March 3
Franco Zeffirelli’s golden production of Puccini’s cold-hearted princess, whose riddles doom every suitor who seeks her hand, is conducted by Paolo Carignani.
Puccini’s Manon Lescaut, March 17
The Met stage ignites when soprano Kristine Opolais and tenor Jonas Kaufmann join forces in Puccini’s obsessive love story.

The Met: Live in HD, the Met’s award-winning series of live transmissions to movie theaters around the world, has expanded its worldwide distribution to more than 2000 theaters in 70 countries this season and has sold more than 19 million tickets since its inception in 2006.
The Aspen Music Festival and School is the United States’ premier classical music festival, presenting more than 350 musical events during its eight-week summer season in Aspen. The institution draws top classical musicians from around the world to this Colorado mountain retreat for an unparalleled combination of performances and music education.
