What’s Fresh From the Farm and Sea?
The farm, along with many folks in Florida, is still waiting for a little cooler weather. The close to record highs we are having this winter have made it a little challenging for our cold weather crops but farmers Eric and Ryan Geraldson have been through warm winters before so they know how to maximize the growing season. That is why we are still able to serve a wide variety of produce on our menus. Spinach, arugula, cabbage and Seminole pumpkins as well as fresh herbs are just a few of the crops being harvested right now. You will find this produce in the many salads we serve and as side dishes to your favorite entrees.
On the seafood side, our fresh fish selections include gulf grouper, mahi-mahi, flounder, red snapper and yellowfin tuna. We also have Mount Cook King Salmon which has received the highest rating of any salmon by the Monterey Seafood Watch program. So if you love salmon we encourage you to come in to try some of this melt-in-your-mouth sustainable salmon from New Zealand. We hope to add mackerel, sheep head and hog fish to our daily catches soon so check back to our menus at islanddining.com to check for availability of these fresh fish. Read the rest…
