Announcement: The Players Theatre announces New Studio Opening

Just Announced: The Players Performing Arts Studio, the educational arm of The Players Theatre, will relocate to a brand new facility in Sept. 2016 with the help of donor Arnold Simonsen. The Arnold Simonsen Players Studio will be a new state-of-art facility located within walking distance of the existing theatre, on Boulevard of the Arts in the new Rosemary Square development.

In its 20th year, the current studio provides vital training to over 300+ students from ages three years old and up.

Ringling College Willis Smith Gallery presents Amer Kobaslija – A 10-Year Survey with an Opening Reception on Jan. 15 from 4:30 – 7 p.m. at Willis Smith Gallery, Academic Center, 2363 Old Bradenton Road. (Art is on display from Jan. 15 – Feb. 20, 2016). 

Amer Kobaslija – A 10-Year Survey is a selection of over two dozen large and small-scale paintings exploring a variety of subjects that have occupied the artist’s attention over the past decade. The exhibition will include views of Kesennuma, Japan where the tsunami came ashore in 2011, paintings of the artist’s studio, Balthus’s studio and Switzerland, miniature paintings, and Florida landscapes.

Reception for January Art Exhibit

The Alliance cordially invites you to the January Art Exhibit Reception featuring the photography of Caryn J. Koffman on Jan. 15 from 5 – 7 p.m. on the first floor of the Center for Arts and Humanity, 1226 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. Enjoy refreshments, great conversation, and a photographic visit to a fascinating area of the world.

The exhibit is titled A Glimpse of Galapagos and Beyond and runs from Jan. 4 – Jan. 30, 2016.

Artist Exhibit Opportunity
at the Center for Arts and Humanity

A monthly juried art exhibit at the Center for Arts and Humanity runs from Sept. – June of each year.

Artists who are members of the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County and have not exhibited at the Center for the past two years are eligible to apply. As a member, there is no charge to participate. The Alliance does request a donation of 10% of sales.

The Alliance promotes the exhibition and invites Alliance members to a reception hosted by the artist.

The SARASOTA CULTURE COLLECTIVE gives those interested in the arts (ages 21-39) the chance to experience Sarasota’s world-class organizations at a dramatically discounted rate and exclusive access to pre- or post-show mix and mingle events. The Pineapple Drop, New Year’s Eve Celebration in Downtown Sarasota
The New Year’s Eve Party in downtown Sarasota will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 31. Carnival rides, climbing walls, trampolines, and slides open throughout the afternoon with the party ending at 1:30 a.m. At midnight, at the intersection of Lemon Avenue and Main Street, crowds will gather for the annual Pineapple Drop that will welcome in 2016.

The final public night of Marie Selby Botanical Gardens’ Lights in Bloom is tonight, Dec. 30, from 6 – 9 p.m. at 900 S. Palm Ave., Sarasota. Guests can enjoy the amazing light display, live music and dance performances, as well as games and refreshments. Family friendly.
Tickets: $20 Members, $25 Guests; Children 5-12 $7.50; Children under 5 Free.
