On April 28, 1945, life begins again.  Hundreds of survivors from the German concentration camps arrive at the harbor of Malmo, Sweden.  Now, 70 years later the survivors are watching this archival footage for the very first time and as they discover themselves, they re-experience the emotions from this special day.

Join The Jewish Federation on Thursday, January 21 at 7pm in the Beatrice Friedman Theatre for a screening and a post-film discussion with director Magnus Gertten.  Tickets are $10.  A private wine and cheese reception with the director will be held at 5:30pm; tickets for this special event are $25 and include the screening.

Volunteers Needed! Be a source of comfort for those in need in our community

We need you to help deliver meals to those in need in our community. The Federation helps coordinate volunteers to deliver meals to the homebound from 10:00am to noon every Thursday through our partnership with the Sarasota County Meals-on-Wheels. Our route is almost entirely in the 34237 zip code (Route 3A). Meals are picked up from the Meals on Wheels main office on Lime. Delivery time only takes 1 to 1 ½ hours.

We are in urgent need of additional volunteers. If you can volunteer on a regular basis, or be on call for emergency coverage, please contact Jennifer New at The Federation for additional details. [email protected] or call 941.552.6304.

The Federations Impact: TO BE A SOURCE OF COMFORT AND CARE FOR THOSE IN NEED IN OUR COMMUNITY. IN ADDITION, OUR FEDERATION NATIONAL SYSTEM WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT ONE OF THE LARGEST, STRONGEST, AND MOST ENDURING NETWORKS OF SOCIAL SERVICES IN NORTH AMERICA, ENSURING THAT THOSE MOST AT RISK CAN LIVE WITH DIGNITY.
