ROSER COMMUNITY CHURCH CANTATA CHOIR PRESENTS
“What Sweeter Music”
on Sunday, December 13 at 10:00 AM in the Roser Sanctuary.
In the quiet of the Sanctuary, with the soft colors of the sun streaming through the stained glass windows, the Nativity scene on the platform will be brought to life through music and narrative. In the matter of an hour you will be transported back in time as you listen to the beloved Christmas story. Please join us as we celebrate the coming of the Prince of Peace!
This festival of carols is a fantastic presentation of twelve carols plus original songs.
Mark Morris and Priscilla Seewald will serve as narrators.
The cantata also features the
Joyful Noise Children’s Choir,
a 6-piece instrumental ensemble
and soprano, Sadie Elbert.
Familiar carols include Angels We Have Heard on High, I Saw Three Ships, Away in a Manger, Thou Didst Leave Thy Throne, Silent Night, Angels We Have Heard on High, Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, The First Nowell, Joy to the World and O Come, All Ye Faithful. The theme song, What Sweeter Music Can We Bring? will be woven through the cantata, along with Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day, Promise of Peace, Song of Mary and Song of the Angels.
The instrumental ensemble includes Shawna Nance – piano, Mary Deur – flute,
John Gunkler – trumpet, Tito Herrera – percussion, Phyllis O’Keef – organ
and Scott Stanton – bass
Soloist, Sadie Elbert will be singing the Song of Mary in the Cantata. Sadie is a junior at Manatee School for the Arts where she studies voice and dance and recently played the role of Liesel in The Sound of Music. Sadie’s home church is Church on the Rock in Palmetto where she is active in the children’s ministry program. She is the granddaughter of flutist, Mary Deur.
The Cantata, What Sweeter Music, is written by Mark Hayes and will be directed by Kristen Stanton, Director of Music Ministries at Roser Community Church.
There will not be a sermon as the words of the carols and brief narration taken from the Bible will tell the story. Bring the whole family and stay for refreshments in the Narthex following the Cantata.
