Ringling College Presents Nature in Glass from the Basch Collection
A Selection of Nature-Inspired International Glass Art on Display in the Basch Gallery
Sarasota, FL – Opening January 9, 2016, Nature in Glass from the Basch Collection will deliver a stunning display of artworks from a selection of world-renowned glass artists. The exhibition will consist of more than two dozen works exploring and reflecting on the natural world, showcased in the on-campus Basch Gallery. Barbara Basch will offer tours of the exhibition on Wednesdays at 10:30 AM.
Curator Mark Ormond will work closely with collectors and well-known philanthropists Richard and Barbara Basch to determine the final list of works. Anticipated artists include Alex Bernstein, Martin Blank, Dale Chihuly, Dan Dailey, Laura Donefer, Colin Heany, Shin-ichi and Kimiake Higuchi, Charles Miner, Seth Randal, Davide Salvadore, Bertil Vallien, and Toots Zynsky.
The exhibition will be on display from January 9 – March 19, 2016.
Since the early 1990s, Richard and Barbara Basch have been nurturing their growing collection of glass art. Now home to more than 275 pieces that take you around the globe, the Basch Collection inspires and reflects the collectors’ desire to build a community of glass artists, supporters, and enthusiasts right here in Sarasota. To further that goal, the Baschs pledged their world-class collection to Ringling College and have committed to delivering an annual exhibition of glass art in the Basch Gallery.
Gallery Hours: Monday-Saturday, 10am – 4pm. Tuesdays 10am – 7 pm.
Location: Basch Gallery is on the first floor of the Academic Center, 2363 Old Bradenton Road, on the campus of the Ringling College of Art and Design.
