CHICAGO – Lyric Opera introduces a new perk this fall for season subscribers – the Lyric Opera Bus, which will transport patrons from the Northbrook Court shopping center (Northbrook, IL) to the Civic Opera House on all weekday matinee performance dates throughout the opera season.
For a very reasonable $20 per person roundtrip, transportation to and from the opera house can be easy and convenient. “We’ve heard from our patrons that they would appreciate a cost-effective way to get downtown,” says Lisa Middleton, Lyric’s director of marketing. “The Lyric Opera Bus is the answer! Patrons can relax and enjoy the trip and we’ll take care of the driving. We hope to expand this pilot program to serve many more patrons and performances in the future.”
Lyric Opera Bus patrons will be able to enjoy easy access to the service from the southeast outer lot of Northbrook Court’s parking lot across from Neiman Marcus. Northbrook Court is located on Lake Cook Road, West of Hwy. 41 just east of I-294, west of Edens Expressway. Patrons will arrive at the Opera House 40 minutes prior to the start of each performance, allowing for access to Lyric’s free pre-opera lectures or for easy in-house dining.
Lyric has engaged full-sized motor coaches equipped with amenities including a restroom, climate control, wireless access, and full storage bays. Each bus has the capacity to accommodate up to two wheelchairs and features the “kneeler feature” that lowers and raises the bus for easy entrance and exit.
Advanced reservations required and space is limited – book early to avoid disappointment. More information and Lyric Opera Bus reservations are all available by calling Lyric Opera’s ticket department at 312-827-5600 or visiting lyricopera.org/operabus.
