Sentry Management, Inc., a full-service community management firm, celebrates 40 years of serving the needs of condominiums and homeowner associations on October 7. A series of special employee activities, as well as outreach initiatives, is planned for our client Board of Directors and Vendor/Partners. To give back to the community, Sentry Management has created a special 40th Anniversary Scholarship Fund to help students of Seminole State College obtain an education. Sentry identified Seminole State as the recipient because the company has long been impressed with the quality and workforce preparedness of their graduates. Sentry has pledged a sizable contribution, and some valuable vendor partners have stepped up as well. To date, nearly $60,000 has been collected. The final amount will be announced at the “Celebration of Giving” event to be held at the College on September 10, 2015.
Jim Hart started in the property management business in 1968 and incorporated Sentry Management in 1975 to manage HOA and condominium associations. He started in a small space inside of a community clubhouse. By 1985, Sentry Management had grown from two communities with three employees to 60 communities with 14 staff members. All of Sentry’s 1985 clients were in the North Orlando FL area, and only two management firms existed in Central Florida. Today, Sentry has grown to be one of the top association management firms in the US and dominant in Florida. The company is financially stable and growing. Sentry now has nearly 900 employees, manage approximately 2,250 communities and operate through 31 divisions in 13 states.
Howard Pomp, CEO of Sentry Management, believes “the success of the company is due to innovative systems and technology, great talent and unsurpassed customer service. Fundamentally, community association management is about people. We have the most experienced and knowledgeable people in the industry, using sound administrative procedures and the best technology. That is what has driven the company success for forty years.”
