Unitarian Universalists Establish Lakewood Ranch Presence
Those looking for an alternative to the religious traditions of their youth and who are interested in joining with others to form a progressive, welcoming spiritual community are invited to attend the inaugural service of Unitarian Universalists of Lakewood Ranch, 9am, Sunday, September 13 at the River Club, 6600 River Club Blvd. in Bradenton. The service, which is open to all who embrace the principles of respect, justice and compassion for all people and the earth, will be led by Roger Fritts, minister of the UU Church of Sarasota. Families with children are especially welcome.
Unitarian Universalists embrace seven principles, almost all of which center around treating others with dignity and respect, working for social justice, conserving the earth, doing good works and a focus on making this world better for all. It is a non-dogmatic religion where members are encouraged to discover what gives their life meaning. Members enjoy a large variety of activities including classes, discussion groups, shared meals, social events, art exhibits, concerts and stimulating conversation.
