Tristan & Isolde
150th Anniversary |
This week we celebrate the 150th anniversary of Richard Wagner’s opera “Tristan & Isolde” which premiered at the Königliches Hof- und Nationaltheater in Munich on 10 June 1865. It is certainly Wagner’s most audacious score, famous for its overture and the closing Liebestod, and recounts the Celtic legend of the tragic love of Tristan and Isolde. On the occasion of this event, we look back on our extensive recording history of this important opera work. Listen to a selection of pieces from this opera taken from different recordings and explore this powerful music. |

Maestro Claudio Abbado
A rare, new Schubert album |
Still much missed by many in the concert hall and the studio, we are happy to announce a new album featuring Claudio Abbado and his beloved Orchestra Mozart. In September 2011, they recorded Schubert’s The “Great” C major Symphony which is now released this month. The album proves that Schubert remained one of Abbado’s favourite composers throughout his life. |

The Who fans will love these news! As a leading icon of the British music revolution of the 1960s, Pete Townshend made his name as the guitarist of The Who.
