CONTRIBUTIONS TO BENEFIT THE NEWLY ESTABLISHED
GREATER HOUSTON 2015 FLOOD RELIEF FUND
FREE PRESS SUMMER FESTIVAL (FPSF) organizers, sponsors and artists are rallying around their local community in fund raising efforts for victims of last week’s flooding and benefitting the Greater Houston 2015 Flood Relief Fund.
Established at the Greater Houston Community Foundation by Mayor Annise Parker, the Fund Advisory Committee will administer the Fund. That committee will be chaired by John Minge, Chairman and President of BP America, Inc. All donations to the fund will be used in support of the fund’s charitable purposes: relief efforts to aid the victims of the 2015 flood residing in Harris, Fort Bend, or Montgomery Counties, to address needs such as shelter and temporary housing, food and supplies, healthcare, transportation, child care, and other purposes approved by the Advisory Board and consistent with the fund’s charitable purposes.
Beyond a FPSF donation, additional fund raising from the festival side includes initial contributions from Budweiser, Verizon, Pegstar Concerts,Salient Partners, The Windish Agency. At the same time, FPSF is urging others to support the fund by donating at www.GHCF.org or via text message: Text keyword “Houston” to 91999. Donors willimmediately receive an automated response with a link to complete the donation, which will redirect to the donation form. Donors can use social media links to share.
Earlier this week, FPSF relocated the 2015 event to an area adjacent to the city’s beloved Astrodome and NRG Park in Houston (Yellow Lot; 1 NRG Park). This weekend’s FPSF—Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7– features headlining sets from Skrillex, R. Kelly and Weezer and performances from more than 75 acts on six stages.
