FIVE KNIVES FULL-LENGTH DEBUT ALBUM SAVAGES OUT TODAY SUMMER FESTIVAL PERFORMANCES ANNOUNCED
Electronic-pop band Five Knives has released their debut full-length, Savages today via Red Bull Records. The new album, produced by Mark Needham (The Killers, Imagine Dragons), contains 13 tracks of bombastic, heart-skipping raw electronic bursts wrapped in pop hooks, all delivered with the power and energy of a live band. Fresh from a high-energy set at Hangout Festival, Five Knives will headline a hometown show at the Basement East June 5th before playing Firefly Festival in Dover, DE June 17th and Milwaukee’s Summerfest June 24th. They will bring the party to New York City for Electric Zoo September 6th.On the heels of two Top 10 Billboard Dance hits with songs “Sugar” and “The Rising,” new single “Savages” is currently in the Top 15 on the chart and climbing. The video for the track is in rotation at MTV Hits and MTV Clubland and is part of the current crop of MTVU’s The Freshmen. Vote here to help move the video into regular rotation on the channel. Entertainment Weekly recently premiered the clip and described the song as “pounding beats, twitchy synths, a shout-along chorus, and M’Queen’s boundless charisma.” Earmilk also praised the band, stating “Five Knives have an intoxicating sound that blends gritty electronic sounds with unstoppable pop melodies” whileCrave declared “For those who like their synth-pop with a deep dose of attitude, made by musicians playing actual instruments.”
Five Knives have also released a “Savages” remix EP which features re-workings of the track from Pretty Lights, Chris Lake, Milkman, Illyus and Barrientos and more, and their Daytrotter session premiered today.Comprised of singer Anna M’Queen, keyboardists/programmers Nathan Barlowe and Zach Hall and drummer Shane Wise, Five Knives formed in 2012 and have quickly advanced from secret password basement shows in their hometown of Nashville to performing at Winter Music Conference and most recently, touring with Icona Pop. The band’s song “The Rising,” from their 2012 EP of the same name, was nominated for a Grammy for the category of Best Remix Recording (remixer Eddie Amador).
