From sitting front row at SNL’s 40th Anniversary show to music concerts or a tour on air, land and sea,

360-degree videos on YouTube  are providing an astonishing—and accessible—virtual reality experience for the viewer.

YouTube announced today at Google I/O in San Francisco that 360-degree videos on YouTube can now also be viewed on Google Cardboard and on iOS 8.0 devices and above, as well as on Android and Chrome.

YouTube is also supporting YouTube creators who want to film in 360 by offering the Jump capture rig with 16 camera modules in a circular arrangement at all six YouTube Space locations in Los Angeles, Tokyo, London, New York, Sao Paulo and Berlin this summer.  Jump allows the shooter to capture, assemble and share immersive, three-dimensional content.

YouTube has plans to add even more platforms, as well as to  bring 3D viewing to 360 videos in the near future.
