THE NEW YORK POPS AS SOLOISTS FOR THE 2015–2016 SEASON

 Guest artists Sierra Boggess (The Phantom of the Opera, The Little Mermaid, It Shoulda’ Been You), and Steven Pasquale (The Bridges of Madison County, Chicago Lyric Opera’s Carousel), join The New York Pops and Music Director Steven Reineke to kick off the orchestra’s 2015–2016 season on Friday, October 9 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. The program, My Favorite Things: The Songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein, honors the beloved music of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. Ms. Boggess previously appeared at Carnegie Hall in the Gala production of Guys and Dolls in April 2014 as Sarah Brown.
On Friday, March 11 at 8:00 p.m., Jeremy Jordan (Newsies, NBC’s Smash) and Betsy Wolfe (Bullets Over Broadway, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Second Stage Theatre’s The Last Five Years) are featured with The New York Pops and Maestro Reineke in 42nd on 57th: Broadway Today, an evening of musical theater hits. Mr. Jordan previously appeared with The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall in April 2013. Additional New York Pops performances at Carnegie Hall next season include Sophisticated Ladies on Friday, November 13 at 8:00 p.m. featuring Montego Glover, Capathia Jenkins, and Sy Smith, celebrating the centennial year of Billie Holiday’s birth and other groundbreaking icons of American popular song; It’s Christmas Time in the City on Friday, December 18 and Saturday, December 19 at 8:00 p.m. featuring Stephanie J. Block, Brian d’Arcy James, and Essential Voices USA; and Lights, Camera, Action: Spielberg and Williams on Friday, April 8 at 8:00 p.m. honoring the legendary collaborations between Academy Award winners Steven Spielberg and John Williams. About the Artists Jeremy Jordan was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. A rising star of stage and screen, he starred as Jimmy Collins on NBC’s musical drama, Smash. This past Valentine’s Day, he starred opposite Anna Kendrick in the film adaption of Jason Robert Brown’s The Last Five Years. Last year, he starred as Peter Pan author J.M. Barrie in Finding Neverland at A.R.T. in Boston, under the direction of Tony-winner Diane Paulus. In 2012, Jeremy a received Tony Award nomination for his iconic performance as Jack Kelly in the hit Disney musical Newsies. On Broadway, he began as a swing in Rock of Ages, then moved on to star as Tony in West Side Story and originated the role of Clyde in Bonnie & Clyde. He also starred opposite Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah in the 2012 film Joyful Noise. Recently, Jeremy has been performing his cabaret show, Breaking Character, to sold-out houses around the country. Jeremy has a BFA in performance from Ithaca College and is joyfully married to fellow actress Ashley Spencer. Steven Pasquale most recently starred in the Chicago Lyric Opera’s production of Carousel. Recently, he starred on Broadway in The Bridges of Madison County (Drama Desk, Drama League nominations). Other recent New York credits include Far From Heaven (Playwrights Horizons), The Intelligent Homosexual’s Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures (Public Theater), A Soldier’s Play (Second Stage), A Man of No Importance (Lincoln Center; Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle nominations), Beautiful Child (Vineyard Theater), Spinning Into Butter (Lincoln Center), The Spitfire Grill (Playwrights Horizons), and The Wild Party (Manhattan Theater Club). Television credits include Rescue Me (FX), Do No Harm, and Up All Night (NBC); Over/Under (USA), Coma (A&E), HBO’s Six Feet Under; and Sofia Coppola’s Platinum, and currently the Emmy-winning series The Good Wife. Steven is currently the executive producer, director, and star of his own comedy Almost There (DirectTV). Film credits include Alien vs. Predator: Requiem, Aurora Borealis, and The Last Run. His solo album, Somethin’ Like Love, was released in 2009. Betsy Wolfe was last seen on Broadway starring in Woody Allen’s musical adaptation of Bullets Over Broadway as Ellen, under the direction of Susan Stroman. Wolfe starred in the Off-Broadway revival of The Last Five Years at Second Stage Theater and the Broadway revival of The Mystery Of Edwin Drood. Prior to that she played Beth in Merrily We Roll Along at Encores! and created the role of Mary Ann Singleton in ACT’s World Premiere of Tales of the City, a musical based on the Armistead Maupin novels. Other Broadway credits includes Everyday Rapture with Sherie Rene Scott (a show she also performed Off- Broadway), 110 in the Shade, and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Wolfe made her Metropolitan Opera debut in Douglas Carter Beane’s adaptation of Die Fledermaus. She has been a guest artist for over 30 symphony, pops, and philharmonic orchestras across the U.S. and internationally including the New York Philharmonic and Chicago Symphony. Ms. Wolfe was a guest soloist for the New York City Ballet where she performed at Lincoln Center and at The Coliseum in London. She holds a BFA in musical theater from Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. Steven Reineke is the Music Director and Conductor of The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall, Principal Pops Conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Principal Pops Conductor of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and the Principal Pops Conductor Designate for the Houston Symphony, beginning in the 2017–2018 season. Mr. Reineke is a frequent guest conductor with The Philadelphia Orchestra and has been on the podium with the Boston Pops, The Cleveland Orchestra and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at Ravinia. His extensive North American conducting appearances include San Francisco, Houston, Seattle, Edmonton and Pittsburgh. As the creator of more than one hundred orchestral arrangements for the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, Mr. Reineke’s work has been performed worldwide, and can be heard on numerous Cincinnati Pops Orchestra recordings on the Telarc label. His symphonic works Celebration Fanfare, Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Casey at the Bat are performed frequently in North America. His numerous wind ensemble compositions are published by the C.L. Barnhouse Company and are performed by concert bands around the world. A native of Ohio, Mr. Reineke is a graduate of Miami University of Ohio, where he earned bachelor of music degrees with honors in both trumpet performance and music composition. He currently resides in New York City with his husband, Eric Gabbard. The New York Pops is the largest independent pops orchestra in the United States, and the only professional symphonic orchestra in New York City specializing in popular music. Under the leadership of dynamic Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke, The New York Pops continues to re-imagine orchestral pops music.
