The Metropolitan Opera’s La Traviata – Wendesday, July 8 at 7 pm $12.50

Today we take you from Carmike Cinemas to the legendary Metropolitan Opera for Verdi’s tragic masterpiece, La Traviata (Tra-vi-a-ta).  A love story cloaked in misunderstanding and sacrifice, La Traviata is one of the best-loved operas.  You won’t have to travel to NYC’s Metropolitan Opera when you can see it on our big screen on July 8th.

 

 

The Metropolitan Opera’s La Fille Du Regiment – Wendesday, July 15 at 7 pm $12.50

The second opera in our MET series is La Fille Du Regiment.  The story of an abandoned baby girl who was found and raised by a group of French soldiers, this opera is famous for its aria that features nine high C notes, referred to it as the “Mount Everest for tenors”.  Join us on July 15 for this operatic show of the season, La Fille Du Regiment.

 

 

The Metropolitan Opera’s The Merry Widow – Wendesday, July 22 at 7 pm $12.50

We have a treat for you on July 22 with our third Opera in this series, The Metropolitan Opera’s The Merry Widow.  You’ll enjoy this opera more if you know a little something about it…..The Merry Widow is romantic musical comedy based on a rich widow and her countrymen’s desperate attempt to keep her fortune in the county by finding her the right husband. Join us for one of the most celebrated operas ever written by the Metropolitan Opera on July 22.

 

 

The Metropolitan Opera’s Aida – Wendesday, July 29 at 7 pm $12.50

The last Met Opera is our summer series is Verdi’s Aida, grand opera at its grandest.  The splendors of ancient Egypt will be broadcast on our big screen July 29th with Aida, which was a huge success when it first opened in Cairo in 1871.   Set in ancient Egypt during a war with Ethiopia, this well-known opera is based on a beautiful Ethiopian princess named Aida who is captured and enslaved by the Egyptians.  This masterpiece tells the story of forbidden love and you’ll be captivated watching it on our big screen on July 29th.
