Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra presents free Symphony in the Parks series July 1, 8 and 16
In addition to performing in area parks this summer, ISO to appear in communities of Lebanon and Danville
INDIANAPOLIS –The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra is presenting three concerts in Indianapolis’ parks this summer as a part of its effort to increase its footprint throughout the community. In partnership with Indy Parks and Recreation, the ISO’s Symphony in the Parks concerts on July 1, 8 and 16 are free and open to the public.
Audiences are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and food/beverages to the concert (alcohol is prohibited in the parks). All parks concerts may be canceled in case of inclement weather. There are no rain dates.
Garfield Park Concert – Wednesday, July 1 at 8 p.m.
Just in time for the Fourth of July holiday, guest conductor Alfred Savia will lead the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra in a performance of patriotic and American classics. Garfield Park is located at 2505 Conservatory Drive on the south side of Indianapolis.
This Symphony in the Park concert at Garfield Park is underwritten by an anonymous donor.
Ellenberger Park Concert – Wednesday, July 8 at 8 p.m.
Thanks to title sponsor Community Health, the ISO will head to the east side’s Ellenberger Park for a performance of classical and popular favorites led by guest conductor Christopher Lees.
Ellenberger Park is located at 5309 E. St. Clair Street. Due to limited parking, Community Hospital East, located at 16th Street and Ritter Avenue, will provide free parking and shuttle service to the park.
Holliday Park Concert – Thursday, July 16 at 8 p.m.
The final concert of this summer’s Symphony in the Park series will take place at Holliday Park on the north side of Indianapolis and will feature works by Tchaikovsky and Vivaldi. This performance is led by guest conductor Daniel Meyer and features renowned violinist Anne Akiko Meyers.
Holliday Park is located at 6363 Spring Mill Road. The Symphony in the Park concert at Holliday Park is underwritten by an anonymous donor.
OTHER COMMUNITY PERFORMANCES
Lebanon, Indiana – Sunday, June 28 at 8 p.m.
Presented by Symphony at Sunset, Inc., the ISO performs a collection of patriotic favorites at this annual concert, led by guest conductor Al Savia. The concert venue is located in Abner Longley Park in Lebanon. Ticket information will be made available at a later date.
Danville, Indiana – Thursday, July 9 at 8 p.m.
Presented by the Danville Chamber of Commerce, the ISO will perform a concert of patriotic and classical favorites that concludes with a fireworks display. The concert will be held in Ellis Park in Danville. For ticket and venue information, go to www.danvillechamber.org.
