“Food and Wine on Pine was a Fabulous Time”
On Saturday, May 3rd, the 5th Annual Food and Wine on Pine event was held in the City of Anna Maria. It was the perfect day and idyllic setting to taste wine and indulge in tasty culinary creations. There were 20 area restaurants that participated complemented by 30 wines and craft beers. Interspersed amongst the food and wine were various artists and a juried art show. New this year was a Kentucky Derby tent that broadcasted the races and even had a hat contest for the ladies. Rounding out the festive atmosphere was a diverse array of musical entertainment. Local bands and entertainers were throughout all of Pine Avenue.
I arrived early and planned on only spending 1-2 hours walking around but ended up staying all day. Pine Avenue is absolutely charming and the booths were easy and comfortable to navigate. There was a wide variety of foods and wines so there was definitely something for everyone. I especially enjoyed trying the liquid nitrogen ice cream from Bridge Street Bistro and the sushi rolls from Tsunami. The Polpo Pizza food truck was so stylish. The wine was plentiful with many varietals to choose from. It was fun expanding my appreciation for wines and learning so much from the knowledgeable vendors.
A pleasant surprise was the reasonable pricing. Entrance fee was $2, wine tastings $1 and food was $3-$7. Even better, the proceeds benefited many local Anna Maria charities.
