DRAGONS AQUINO SUFFERS BROKEN WRIST
April 25, 2015
DAYTON, OHIO—The Dayton Dragons announced the following roster changes today:
Outfielder Aristides Aquino has been placed on the disabled list with a broken left wrist.
Outfielder Jonathan Reynoso has been promoted to Dayton from extended spring training.
The Dragons roster remains at the Midwest League limit of 25 players.
Aquino was hit by a pitch from West Michigan’s A.J. Ladwig in the first inning last night and suffered a broken left wrist. Typical healing time for this injury is four-to-six weeks. Aquino, the top-rated prospect on the 2015 Dragons roster, had gotten off to a slow start after an all-star season at Billings in 2014. In 16 games with the Dragons, he batted .226 with one home run and three runs batted in.
Reynoso has not played in an official game this season. He appeared in 52 games for the Dragons in 2014, batting .229 with no home runs and 13 runs batted in. Reynoso was rated as the 10th best prospect in the Reds organization by Baseball America after the 2012 season when he batted .311 for current Dragons manager Jose Nieves in the Arizona League. He hit .238 with two home runs with Billings in 2013 before spending the second half of the 2014 season as the Dragons starting right fielder.
The Dragons continue a three-game home series at 7:00 p.m. tonight against the West Michigan Whitecaps at Fifth Third Field. The series concludes on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
Tonight’s game will be televised on WHIO Digital Channel 7.2 (Time Warner Cable channels 23 and 372). All Dragons games can be heard on Fox Sports 980 WONE, via the internet at wone.com, or through the Dragons Mobile App.
