Magna Carta Celebrates 800 Years of Freedom on June 15
Make a difference. It’s what we all want to do. Leave a mark, be remembered, change the future.
The delightful new children’s book, Rupert’s Parchment: Story of Magna Carta by award winning author and historical preservationist Eileen Cameron, provides an authentic experience for children. Through the eyes of a child who lived during the Middle Ages and played an integral part in the signing of Magna Carta, Rupert’s Parchment makes this historical event come alive for children and adults.
Midwest Book Review says, “… presentation adds life, color and personality to events, emphasizing to a young audience why the historic Magna Carta signing was so important … Add a concluding discussion of principles, casts of characters, a glossary, and an overview of the basic principles of Magna Carta and its amendments and you have a unique treatment that grades 3-6 will relish.”
Educational, historical and fun for children ages six through eleven, Rupert’s Parchment introduces children to the powerful document responsible for our personal freedoms, as well as highlights:
- Historical Children’s Fiction – giving children an authentic experience as they share in the signing of Magna Carta
- How Magna Carta inspired American founding documents – when the founding fathers’ rights as Englishmen were challenged by the British crown, they rebelled to fight for their freedom
- Where it all began – the freedom for the rights of all regardless of income, race, orientation or religion
- The 800th Anniversary and celebrations scheduled throughout the world
- Church and State – the role the Bishop of Canterbury played in Magna Carta
- Includes an educational glossary, definitions, and side-by-side comparison of Magna Carta with the Bill of Rights
