Statement from Mayor Emanuel on passing of Sarah Brady
Sarah Brady was a courageous champion who worked to keep every American safe from gun violence. Alongside her husband Jim, Sarah Brady took their family’s personal pain and transformed it into a public cause to prevent others from having to endure the same kind of gun violence that they endured. I was proud to work with Sarah and Jim Brady when we passed historic gun control legislation during the Clinton Administration, and believe that the best way that we can honor their enduring legacy is by continuing their fight to keep illegal guns out of our communities.
The thoughts and prayers of the City of Chicago are with the Brady family during this difficult time.
