Saturday, May 9, 8:00 PM
92Y Kaufmann Concert Hall

“The best two-guitar team in existence, maybe even in history.”—The Washington Post

Sérgio & Odair Assad are the most celebrated classical guitar duo in the world. Throughout their long career, Brazil’s renowned Assad Brothers have pushed musical boundaries, stirred the imagination and collaborated with the world’s greatest artists in classical, jazz and world music. For their 50th anniversary celebration, they return to the 92nd Street Y for an exclusive New York engagement in which they highlight their ongoing contributions to Brazilian music and culture.

As part of a world tour, this concert will feature the works of Spanish and Brazilian classics. The Assad Brothers are joined by two of their favorite partners: clarinetist Paquito D’Rivera and violinist Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg.

Benjamin Verdery, artistic director of 92Y’s Art of the Guitar series and chair of Yale’s guitar department, will give a free pre-concert talk at 7 pm.
