Our friends at SXSW’s ongoing mission is to connect people to knowledge, opportunity, and most importantly, each other. To that end, the festival is now venturing into the world of food with the addition of SouthBites. The three-day-long program of panels, podcasts and special events will occur from March 14-16, at the Driskill Hotel and invites an expansive array of critical thinkers from different facets within the food, technology and media industries.

Some SouthBites speakers like Questlove, Nathan Myhrvold, David Chang, Kerry Diamond, Paul Qui, Andrew Zimmern and Jonathan Gold are already celebrated in the industry, and many others are well on their way.  While topics vary, a few that SouthBites will touch on include foodtech, food scarcity solutions, precision agriculture, food communities and more, and one of our very own from Taste Talks will be speaking on Food, Brand, and Community.

No celebration of food is complete without an en epic meal, so rounding out the program are two curated evening events: A craft-cocktail happy hour and the first ever SouthBites dinner. The dinner will see chefs Paul Qui, Sean Brock, and Nathan Myhrvold collaborating on a seven-course menu, with wine pairings curated by Mark Bright of Saison Restaurant.

From gourmet to street there is something for everyone. The annual SouthBites Trailer Park is also back for a full nine days hosting some of the best rolling restaurants around. The hand-picked vendors showcase some of Austin’s best food trailers, and a few other cities will be represented in the lineup this year.

SouthBites invites to Austin a generation of food enthusiasts and aims to showcase a community of innovators through the lens of food. Get  your badge, and we’ll see you there!
