Atlantic Classic Orchestra Brings Chamber Music Superstars

the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio

to Vero and Stewart for Second Set of Orchestral Concerts

February 5 and 7, 2014

Stuart, FL – The Atlantic Classical Orchestra (ACO) welcomes “America’s premier trio”  – the world renowned Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio, to Florida’s Treasure Coast this coming February 5 and 7, 2014. The acclaimed trio guests with the ACO in its second set of concerts in this season’s orchestra series at the orchestra’s homes in Vero and Stuart – the modern Waxlax Center for the Performing Arts and the historic Lyric Theatre.  Praised as “Among the superstars of the chamber music world” by The Washington Post in a recent review, the 36-year old  internationally renowned trio, which has performed with  the foremost musicians and ensembles worldwide, is one of the only ensembles that still retains all of its original members.

“It is our pleasure to present such talented artists to our audiences,” stated Stewart Robertson, ACO Artistic Director and Conductor. “These concerts promise to be musical events people will be talking about long after the performances have passed.

“In addition to this incredible trio, the ACO offers an evening of beautiful music by such popular masters as Prokofiev, Beethoven and Mozart.”

Preceeding each concert is a pre-concert lecture by Maestro Robertson, which takes place in the hall 50 minutes prior.

Audiences are also invited to attend the Orchestra’s open dress rehearsal at the Eissey Campus Theatre at Palm Beach State College in Palm Beach Gardens on February 4th.  The new series also includes a post-rehearsal reception, where the audience will have an opportunity to interact with the musicians, following the free event.

ABOUT THE KALICHSTEIN-LAREDO-ROBINSON TRIO

After thirty-six years of success the world over, including many award-winning recordings and newly commissioned works, the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio continues to dazzle audiences and critics alike with its performances. Since making their debut at the White House for President Carter’s Inauguration in January 1977, pianist Joseph Kalichstein, violinist Jaime Laredo and cellist Sharon Robinson have set the standard for performance of the piano trio literature. The Trio balances the careers of three internationally-acclaimed soloists while making annual appearances at many of the world’s major concert halls, commissioning spectacular new works, and maintaining an active recording agenda.

Musical America named the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio the “Ensemble of the Year” for 2002. The 2003-04 season was their first as “Chamber Ensemble in Residence” at the Kennedy Center, an honor which has continued to thrill the Trio throughout subsequent seasons. They were also awarded the first annual “Samuel Sanders Collaborative Artists Award” (2002) by the Foundation for Recorded Music as well as in 2011.

ABOUT ATLANTIC CLASSICAL ORCHESTRA

Celebrating 24 years this 2014, the Atlantic Classical Orchestra (ACO) has developed a reputation as a world-class performing arts organization dedicated to presenting performances of both orchestral and chamber music in the rapidly growing urban communities on Florida’s eastern seaboard north of Miami. While its core repertory is based in the late 18th and early 19th century, the orchestra has developed an active commitment to the rediscovery of much unjustly neglected music from the Romantic era, written for an orchestra of classical proportions alongside championing the best and most accessible of contemporary music with a special emphasis on the younger generation of American composers.

The ACO is composed of members drawn not only from Florida’s principal musical organizations, but also major orchestras throughout the USA. The orchestra’s artistic vision, high caliber of playing and variety of works performed have resulted in such acclaim by the press as, “What a remarkable group the Atlantic Classical Orchestra has become….under Grammy- nominated Music Director, Stewart Robertson, it has become an ambitious and poised group that could claim an honored place in even the most culturally rich communities”. –Palm Beach Post

First led by conductor Andrew McMullan, in 2004, the ACO baton was passed to Grammy-nominated Maestro Stewart Robertson, the second and current Artistic Director and Conductor of the ACO. Bringing with him experience gained from his two decade tenure as Music Director of the internationally acclaimed Glimmerglass Opera and an equally successful stint as Music Director of the Florida Grand Opera, Maestro Robertson continued the phenomenal artistic growth begun by Maestro McMullan.

The only resident performing arts organization of Florida’s Treasure Coast, the Atlantic Classical Orchestra’s educational and outreach efforts include an ongoing relationship with the Treasure Coast Youth Symphony. In 2009, a new partnership garnered spectacular results – teaming with Miami’s Dranoff International Two Piano Competition, members of the ACO and prizewinning piano duos from the Dranoff performed special education programs in schools throughout South Florida, culminating in two free Family Concerts featuring the full ACO in performances of Saint-Saens’ The Carnival of the Animals.

The ACO released its first recording, an all-Schumann CD, with guest artist renowned violinist Elmar Oliveira in February 2013.
